Store-bought lemon pepper seasoning can sometimes contain hidden gluten or unnecessary fillers. Making your own ensures fresh, bright flavor with simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp lemon zest (from 2–3 lemons)
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 170°F (or lowest setting).
- Spread lemon zest on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until zest is completely dry (check often so it doesn’t burn).
- Once cooled, combine dried lemon zest with pepper, salt, and garlic powder in a spice grinder or mortar & pestle.
- Pulse until well mixed and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
